well, its been a while since i was made a unbaptized publisher.

now my hand is going to be forced and i will have to be baptized by the end of the year.

my gf wants my decision very soon, like the next couple of days.

just the fact that you are on this forum tells me you shouldn't be baptized.

and the wording you used in your comments cements it.

what is the worst that could happen if you waited 6 months, 1 year, etc.?

i'm pretty sure you love your girl friend...that's not the issue here. (although she may say otherwise)

don't jump into a life changing decision without all the facts. do some more research and find out what it means to be a baptized jehovah's witness.

if you get baptized to make someone else happy you have made the wrong decision.

this is such a "loaded" question.

i don't think there is a right answer...too many variables. makes good discussion though.

is murder right for any reason? ----> a million opinions

would this murder make a difference? ----> a million more

was hitler the cause or was it germany?

if you took hitler out...would germany have replaced him with another psycho dictator who was worse?

it's the pebble in the pond effect.

might killing hitler been the trigger for the annihilation of the entire human race?

then you would be faced with: was killing 6 million worth saving 6 billion?

it's too hard to see clearly from our tiny vantage point.

Aux. pioneers can now attend the first half of the CO's Pioneer meeting

while looking at the notice board of our pending co's visit, i noticed on his letter to the congregation that auxiliary pioneers can now attend the first half of the pioneer meeting.. i've never heard of this before, i thought only regular pioneers could attend.. is this a change in policy?

what would be the reasoning behind it?

to give them a taste of what it is to be a regular pioneer?

it's all a trick. it makes the aux. pioneers feel like doofuses when they have to get up and leave in the middle. so maybe someday (jehoover willing) they may become "real" pioneers.

i fell for it. after i became a reg. pioneer and the short timers (my friends) got up and left...i was like "wtf!" i gotta stay?

WTS Backslides Production Again - Paperback Bibles

the wts will be phasing out hard-bound bibles for the public begining later this year.. jws will still be able to order hard-backs for themselves, but hard-bound bibles will not be made available to the public after current stocks are depleted.. soft cover bibles will have a paper cover similar to other publications produced by the wts.. pocket-size bibles with fake leather covers are to be discontinued entirely and will only be available in paperback.. we are a long way from pig-skin folks.. .

why don't they just print the NWT on toilet paper. this way they can get a literature shipment and stock the RR at the same time.

The "scare tactics" are what made me disassociate instead of doing the fade. I wanted to give that entire organization a big public middle finger.

I can count on one hand how many friends I have.

That's another thing they have. They keep you dependent on them by not allowing you to have friends on the outside. If you leave, you're alone...no one wants to be alone.

The thought of disappointing my parents and family was one grip the borg had on me. The thought of death at Armageddon was so frightening to me. When I finally realized that I would never measure up, I became more comfortable with idea of death...not that I want to die, but it's natural and if it's anything like I was told it is -- "the sprit goes out, he does back to the ground, and in that day his thoughts do perish" -- then death was nothing to fear. I don't fear going to sleep and if death is the same, then if I'm going to die, I may as well enjoy life.

jehovah's witnesses imposed the death sentence on you and you accepted it. don't live your life to die. although you are out now, you carried their gift of fear/death with you. you are still allowing them to control your life. it's time you started to control your own life and accept the consequences. no human has the right to kill another human...or suck the life out of them for that matter...like jws do. if you are part of the walking dead or walking wounded, it's time you break free from the fear of the WTBTS. give them back their fear and guilt...tell them you don't want it any more.

Mental illness among JWs: cause or effect?

there is compelling, published evidence (see link below) to suggest higher rates of mental illness among jws compared to other religious sects, and the general population.

what is your opinion, is this because people with "susceptibility" to mental illness are more likely to be attracted to the lifestyle and psychology of the wts, or after joining and being an active member for years, the jw psychology and lifestyle are simply enough to push any psychologically healthy individual into psychopathology?

The Watchtower Organization attracts co-dependent personalities and then feeds them.

Although it is a learned behavior...some people are already headed that way. According to the National Mental Health Association "people with codependency often form or maintain relationships that are one-sided, emotionally destructive and/or abusive." "Co-dependent behavior is learned by watching and imitating other family members who display this type of behavior."

The WTBTS is the abusive, alcholic controlling partner and it's members are the co-dependent persons who typically sacrifice thier needs and become "martyrs" by giving up their lives to benefit the abuser.

Here are some characteristics of the co-dependent:

Characteristics of Co-Dependent People Are:

An exaggerated sense of responsibility for the actions of others.
A tendency to confuse love and pity, with the tendency to “love” people they can pity and rescue.
A tendency to do more than their share, all of the time.
A tendency to become hurt when people don’t recognize their efforts.
An unhealthy dependence on relationships. The co-dependent will do anything to hold on to a relationship; to avoid the feeling of abandonment.
An extreme need for approval and recognition.
A sense of guilt when asserting themselves.
A compelling need to control others.
Lack of trust in self and/or others.
Fear of being abandoned or alone.
Difficulty identifying feelings.
Rigidity/difficulty adjusting to change.
Problems with intimacy/boundaries.
Chronic anger.
Lying/dishonesty.
Poor communications
Difficulty making decisions.

Some questions to identify the signs Of Co-Dependency

Do you keep quiet to avoid arguments?
Are you always worried about others’ opinions of you?
Are the opinions of others more important than your own?
Do you doubt your ability to be who you want to be?
Are you uncomfortable expressing your true feelings to others?
Have you ever felt inadequate?
Do you feel like a “bad person” when you make a mistake?
Do you think people in your life would go downhill without your constant efforts?
Are you confused about who you are or where you are going with your life?
Do you have trouble saying “no” when asked for help?

yes, fear and guilt are big scare tactics...all the major christian religions use them to keep their members.

as a witness, i blindly thought these tactics weren't being used on me. for one thing, jws don't believe in hell. it was all the other religions who used hell to scare their members into being good and staying in.

now i realize that jws do use hell as a scare tactic...it's just way more personalized and you don't have to wait til you die to be tormented.
